"Project Management in the Contracting Process"

 

Please join us…. This fast-paced one-day seminar teaches the essential aspects of successful project management. Everyone involved in the buying and selling of goods and services, in both the public and private sectors, needs to better understand how to effectively manage their scope of work, budget, schedule, and resources to ensure customer satisfaction. Key topics of discussion include: creating a project vocabulary, project teamwork, the project cycle, and the project management elements—best practices.

Every seminar attendee will receive a copy of the best-selling book on project management “Visualizing Project Management” by Mooz, Forsberg, and Cotterman, 3rd edition, Wiley, 2005 along with a seminar workbook. This highly interactive seminar features numerous exercises, case studies, and lecture/discussions.

 Attendance certificate with 8.0 hours of training credit will be provided.

 

Speaker: Andrew “Drew” C. Obermeyer, Director of Contracting for Targets and Countermeasures at the Missile Defense Agency.

 

Location, Parking and Museum Tours:   The Museum of Flight is located at the south end of Boeing Field at 9408 East Marginal Way, Seattle, WA 98108. Parking is ample and free. At no additional cost, seminar attendees may arrive early or stay after the seminar to tour the Museum and a British Airways Concorde and an Air Force One Airplane. Airplane tours end at 3:00 PM and the Museum is open until 6:00 PM. www.museumofflight.org

Bio:  Mr. Andrew “Drew” C. Obermeyer is the Director of Contracting for Targets and Countermeasures at the Missile Defense Agency in Arlington, Virginia. He previously was a senior procurement analyst in the Policy Directorate of the Office of Director, Defense Procurement and Acquisition Policy, OUSD (AT&L), were he was responsible for policy in the areas of commercial items acquisition, intellectual property, other transactions and contract authority. He joined the civil service after retiring from a 20-year career as an Air Force contracting officer.

He joined NCMA in 1984 and became a member of the Washington, DC, Chapter in 2005. At the chapter level, he served as the past President, Vice President, and Program Chair for the Alamo Chapter. At the national level, he served as a member of the Chapter Development Committee and authored the “Chapter Profile” column for Contract Management magazine during the column’s first 18 months. He has presented many National Educational Seminars for the NCMA, as well as other chapter training sessions. Mr. Obermeyer is also a recipient of the NCMA National Achievement Award.
